We are proud to have worked closely with our partner estates for the past decade.
These venues are very special, private family homes and are exclusively yours for the day.
Englefield House 'The Jewel In The Crown'
Englefield House sits at the heart of the 14,000 acre Englefield Estate, close to Reading in Berkshire and just an hour’s drive from London. As you head through the majestic lodge gates and along the stunningly grand driveaway, you pass the enchanting 12th century church, before the vista of the imposing mansion becomes apparent. You would be forgiven for thinking you are in the most rural of Counties and not 30 miles from Heathrow airport.
The House is exclusively yours for the day, with breakfast enjoyed in the Library, before our activities commence across the state rooms and grounds. Once the morning’s activities conclude, we then retire to the tranquillity of the charming Library for drinks, or delight in a tour of the splendid gardens, glass of English sparkling wine in hand, before a sumptuous luncheon is served in the Dining Room overlooking the deer park and lake. The House and grounds have featured in numerous films and TV programmes including Netflix's ‘The Crown’, Disney’s ‘Cruella’, Apple TV’s ‘Masters of the Air’, ‘X Men First Class’, and ‘The King’s Speech’.
West Woodhay House ‘A Secret Rural Idyll’
West Woodhay House, is a Grade 1 listed, private family home, situated close to Newbury and built in 1635 by Sir Benjamin Rudyard, poet and wit, lawyer and Member of Parliament.
Nestled within 7,000 acres, and once owned by famous practical joker Horace de Vere Cole, the House and its spectacular gardens look out over the stunning views of rolling chalk downland and the mirror-calm lake.
In 1883 the estate church was replaced with the very pretty Gothic one, built 300 yards to the east of the House. The remains of the old church can still be seen today in the gardens.
The House is exclusively yours for the day, with breakfast enjoyed in the delightful Orangery, before our activities commence across the House and grounds. We even take a step back in time in the elegant mazes and kitchen gardens. Once the morning’s activities conclude, we retire to the tranquility of the picturesque terrace for drinks (or the Orangery in inclement weather), or delight in a tour of the beautifully curated gardens, glass of English sparkling wine in hand. Guests then have the opportunity to take part in the 'West Woodhay Golf Challenge' and see if they can hit a ball across the lake, before we retire back to the House for a delectable luncheon.
Englefield House is 45 miles from West London. West Woodhay House is 68 miles from West London. Both venues offer plenty of secure parking for guest vehicles, coaches or chauffeur services and both welcome helicopter landing, we just ask that you advise us in advance if you intend to fly in. We can also provide a helicopter charter service through our aviation partners.
